2018 Rose awarded 5 Stars

Our 2018 Rose has just been released and already it has received 5 Stars from Sam Kim – Wine Orbit.

“A fabulous style; the immediately appealing bouquet shows watermelon, lemon peel, rockmelon and floral aromas, followed by a mouth-watering palate that delivers excellent fruit purity and lively mouthfeel, finishing gorgeously long and refreshing. Wonderfully expressed and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2020.”

4 Barrels Walking Wine Trail

We have teamed up with other local wineries in Cromwell, Scotts Base, Aurum Wines and Misha’s Vineyard to introduce the 4 Barrels Walking Wine Trail!

This is a free fun map to navigate around the four wineries including Wooing Tree. It is a self paced loop trail measuring approximately 8kms that captures amazing wine, service and scenery along the way.

Wooing Tree is the last stop on the map so make sure you come and visit and rest those legs with a well deserved wine and platter!

Harvest 2017

As the 2017 grape harvest gets into full swing, Central Otago Winegrowers Association general manager Glenys Coughlan said there was consensus among members that it had been a ”challenging” growing season, resulting in lower crop yields, but ”much more interesting fruit.”

A warm start to the growing season was followed by strong winds and cold temperatures through a fairly dismal summer, but recent conditions had resulted in a good ripening period, she said.

”Pinot noir is 76% of our planted areas and it responds well to stress, so we can expect some great reds.”

Wooing Tree, in Cromwell was one of the first vineyards to start picking grapes with work expected to finish today. Continue reading

Wooing Tree Development

Last week we announced a proposed zone change to our land that could allow for an attractive vineyard village-style development. We envisage Wooing Tree Estate to be a high-quality living space, with a mix of low- to high-density residential and light commercial, The new ‘light commercial’ zone would complement our existing Wooing Tree Vineyard cellar door and function centre, and could potentially include boutique, high-end accommodation, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, etc. Another idea could be hot pools/day spa. We believe that our concept will benefit Cromwell, by supporting residential growth and adding to the area’s wine and tourism industries.
Our award-winning wine label, cellar door and the famous Wooing Tree will remain – we have no intention of selling Wooing Tree Vineyard. Vines will remain and there will be a large amount of green public space to make this an attractive destination for locals and visitors alike.

Also if you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to contact us, we have a lot to think about whilst the plan change process happens, but it is very exciting for us and so far we have had very positive feedback from the locals.
